As avid cigar enthusiast, Naptown Bourbon Club wanted to do something really special for our members. Having enjoyed some great bourbons with cigars, we asked ourselves “what if we made our own cigar blend whiskey”? So we started researching what a “cigar blend” really is. We worked with cigar enthusiast, the experts @blendbarcigar & @backbone_bourbon_co and did a lot of research into what makes a great pour with a cigar. Cognac is the classic cigar spirit so we knew that had to be a part of it. We realized to compliment the bold spiciness of a cigar we needed a little sweetness to offset that, so a sherry finished barrel might be a nice addition. And of course we needed a big, bold bourbon to tie it all together. This isn’t a 4 year old bourbon washed across some exotic wood and “called” a cigar batch for marketing purposes. This is the real deal. A 5 barrel blend that came together and finished in an Armagnac barrel for almost a year. 2 cognac finished bourbons, 2 straight bourbons and 1 sherry barrel made this magic blend. 4-7 year old barrels that that rested in an Armagnac barrel until ready to enjoy by our members. Projects like this don’t happen without great partners.
